Description

This magical big piece of rock is clearly visible from the entire region of Alicante. ''Penon de Ifach'' is the landmark of calpe and is also a big tourist attraction for many visitors. Besides the normal walking and hiking pats to the summit you can take also the adventurous way towards the summit!

The north and south face has great (partially) fully bolted mulitpitches and traditional routes in all grades. The routes offers great climbing on limestone and gear placements are good, some routes has some old bolts and therefore cams and nuts and standard multi pitch equipment is advised. The North face is a good option for in summer to avoid the sun although some routes have really old gear. More details wil be described in the topo's. The south face offers excellent climbing and most routes are located on this face.

Descent is possible by walking down (preffered) or by rappel (60m ropes) be aware that on the south wall some wall has overhangs which could make an abseil difficult.

Most of the routes are more then 5/6 pitches. Be aware it can take up a few hours before you reach the summit so plan accordingly. In summer bring enough water and suncream it can become incredibly hot!

Note: Rockfall is possible when if other climbing parties are in the route above you.

Note: The ammount of Seagulls nowadays become insane respect them dont get scared if they fly close to you
