Description

Val di Fassa is one of the main dolomite valleys and is surrounded by some of the most beautiful summits in the worlds. It is located in the North-East side of Trentino region and it is a great tourist destination in all the seasons. There are plenty of outdoor activities spacing from trekking, MTB, skiing and climbing. You will be amazed by the landscape on the Dolomites mountains of the Towers of Sella, Marmolada and Sass Pordoi.
It is in this splendid context that we find the small crag of Penia, that is characterized by dark walls of volcanic conglomerate. Climbing here requires high finger strength as well as a good sense of balance. The tiny pinches and crimps on vertical walls make the climbing really technical. There are almost 30 routes and the difficulty range is wide, from 5/5+ to 7c+. The equipment is safe and new.
The approach is short and comfortable, since the sector is located on the side of a frequented bicycle lane.
We can easily say that Penia is particularly suited for families, thanks also to the proximity of a nice playground and a bar.

If you are visiting the valley, you will not be disappointed in taking a break and climbing a couple of lines in this sector.

History

The sector of Penia has been re-bolted quite recently. Protections are good and safe.
