The area is access sensitive
The mountains surrounding Oukaïmeden are a home to many Shepherds and thousands of sheep.
They escape the hot and low grasslands during the summer months to feed their sheep in the higher and cooler mountains of The Atlas. Because of this you will find some simple huts and structures for the animals in some of the areas. Respect this and don’t try to set nice problems at the expense of a fragile fence or shepherds hut. Please be extremely respectful of the Shepherds and local community. Also, please ensure you take all rubbish and litter home with you.
Road to Oukaimeden:
The road to Oukaimeden from Marrakech is rather good. The last 25 minutes before reaching the village the road gets smaller and steeper and some potholes are to be avoided. Only for the upper four sectors(Plato, Neverland, Back yard and Dar) you need to drive for a few hundred meters on a track. When driving carefully these are accesible for regular cars. For the last 100 meters towards the plato sector you need to take extra care. Besides this, all these 4 sectors are also accessible by foot when you park your car at the village. It will take max 20-30 minute walk.
All sectors have designated parkings, but can only have a few cars, and in some cases really only 1 or 2. The biggest parkings are at the Upper river sector. from where you can easily walk within 10 minutes to a bunch of areas.
Accecs each crag via foot.
