⛰️The Ormea area is particularly scenic and distinctive, set in a high-quality natural environment and close to the river, which makes the setting especially pleasant.

The Dente di Ormea is an iconic pillar overlooking the town, offering wide and spectacular views across the valley. The first routes were established in the 1980s; the crag has since been rebolted several times, with a complete rebolting carried out in 2023 by the Run TanaRock association, made possible thanks to financial support from the Municipality of Ormea, which funded the rebolting of the central pillar.
The climbing is technical, on quartzite crimps, with grades ranging from 3 to 7c. The approach takes about 15 minutes, neither short nor long, and the sector hosts almost 30 routes.

The Canyon of Ormea is also developed on quartzite, set within a beautiful chestnut forest, offering a cool and sheltered environment. In 2021, several routes were rebolted. The climbing here is on more colourful quartzite, mainly endurance-oriented crimp climbing, with extensive use of finger strength and body positioning, resulting in varied and high-quality routes.

⛰️La zona di Ormea è particolarmente suggestiva e caratteristica, immersa in un ambiente naturale di pregio e vicina al fiume, che contribuisce a rendere il contesto molto piacevole.

Il Dente di Ormea è un pilastro iconico che domina l’abitato, offrendo un panorama ampio e spettacolare sulla valle. Le prime vie risalgono agli anni ’80; successivamente il settore è stato richiodato più volte, con un intervento completo nel 2023 a cura dell’associazione Run TanaRock, reso possibile anche grazie al contributo del Comune di Ormea, che ha finanziato la richiodatura del pilastro centrale.
L’arrampicata è tecnica, su tacche di quarzite, con difficoltà comprese tra il 3 e il 7c. L’avvicinamento è di circa 15 minuti, né breve né lungo, e il settore conta quasi 30 vie.

Il Canyon di Ormea si sviluppa anch’esso su quarzite, all’interno di un bellissimo bosco di castagni, in un ambiente fresco e raccolto. Nel 2021 diverse linee sono state richiodate. L’arrampicata si svolge su una quarzite più colorata, prevalentemente su tacche di resistenza, con forte utilizzo di dita e posizioni, risultando varia e di grande qualità.

⏪⌚The climbing history of the Ormea area dates back to the 1980s. At the Dente di Ormea, traditional pitons placed in natural cracks are still visible, bearing witness to the earliest ascents of that period. Later on, bolts were introduced, with the involvement of Massimo Rocca, Colombo, Mazza, Lanteri and Fossati, who initiated a sport-oriented rebolting, also contributing to the development of nearby pillars.

In 2023, the Run TanaRock association, with the support of the Municipality of Ormea, carried out a complete rebolting of the central pillar, bringing the routes up to modern safety standards.

The Canyon of Ormea shares a similar history. Here too, the first routes date back to the 1980s, with contributions from the same bolters, joined by Unia, Pastorelli, Mazza, Boglio, Carrero, Cardone and Massari. In 2021, the same Run TanaRock association rebolted the historical lines and equipped new routes, playing a key role in the enhancement of the sector.

⏪⌚La storia arrampicatoria della zona di Ormea inizia negli anni ’80. Al Dente di Ormea sono ancora visibili chiodi tradizionali inseriti nelle fessure, testimonianza delle prime ascensioni di quel periodo. Successivamente arrivarono i fix, con l’intervento di Massimo Rocca, Colombo, Mazza, Lanteri e Fossati, che avviarono una richiodatura in ottica sportiva, contribuendo anche all’ampliamento del settore sui pilastri adiacenti.

Nel 2023, l’associazione Run TanaRock, grazie al contributo del Comune di Ormea, ha effettuato una richiodatura completa del pilastro centrale, aggiornando le linee agli standard moderni.

Il Canyon di Ormea segue una storia simile. Anche qui le prime vie risalgono agli anni ’80, con interventi degli stessi chiodatori, affiancati da Unia, Pastorelli, Mazza, Boglio, Carrero, Cardone e Massari. Nel 2021, la stessa associazione Run TanaRock ha richiodato le linee storiche e attrezzato nuove vie, contribuendo in modo decisivo alla valorizzazione del settore.
