At 1100 meters above sea level, in the forests of the Po Valley, Oncino is quickly becoming one of the most promising bouldering spots in Piedmont. The boulders are spread between an upper sector and a lower one along the river, in a peaceful and scenic setting. Approaches are short and pleasant.
The problems range from 3 to 8B+, on compact granite with solid and varied climbing. Some of the area’s most beautiful lines have been opened by Elias Iagnemma and Alessandro Palma, who played a key role in the development of the zone.
The area also includes sport climbing sectors, with routes suitable both for beginners and for experienced climbers. It’s a truly versatile destination.
Just a few minutes away, the town of Paesana offers a camper area and picnic spot, perfect for longer stays. The nearby Monviso adds a majestic backdrop and makes the experience even more special.
Thanks to its altitude and orientation, Oncino is ideal in spring and fall, and even summer can offer good conditions.

A 1100 metri di quota, tra i boschi della Val Po, l’area boulder di Oncino si sta rapidamente affermando come una delle destinazioni più interessanti del cuneese. I blocchi si distribuiscono tra il settore alto e quello basso, lungo il fiume, in un ambiente suggestivo e tranquillo. Gli avvicinamenti sono brevi e piacevoli, immersi nella natura.
Le linee spaziano dal 3 all’8B+, con passaggi solidi su granito compatto. Alcuni tra i blocchi più belli sono stati liberati da Elias Iagnemma e Alessandro Palma, che hanno dato nuova vita a quest’area. La roccia è varia, con tiri tecnici, spesso su appoggi piccoli e prese nette.
Tutto questo è accompagnato da falesie perfette sia per chi muove i primi passi, sia per chi cerca vie più impegnative. L’area è estremamente polivalente, adatta a ogni livello e stile di arrampicata.
A pochi minuti si trova Paesana, dove è presente una zona camper attrezzata e un’area pic-nic, perfette per chi vuole fermarsi più giorni. Il Monviso domina l’orizzonte e rende l’esperienza ancora più suggestiva, con paesaggi spettacolari e un’atmosfera unica.
L’orientamento e l’altitudine rendono Oncino ideale nelle mezze stagioni, ma anche l’estate può offrire ottime condizioni.
È importante parcheggiare solo negli spazi dedicati: al momento ci sono due parcheggi utilizzabili, e lasciare l’auto a bordo strada potrebbe compromettere l’accesso futuro.
Un luogo che cresce stagione dopo stagione, con un potenziale enorme e già oggi linee di altissima qualità.

À 1100 mètres d'altitude, au cœur des bois de la vallée du Pô, le site de bloc d’Oncino est en train de devenir l’un des spots les plus prometteurs du Piémont. Les blocs se répartissent entre un secteur haut et un secteur bas, le long de la rivière, dans un environnement naturel paisible et agréable. Les approches sont courtes et agréables.
Les passages vont du 3 au 8B+, sur un granite compact offrant des mouvements solides et variés. Certaines lignes majeures ont été libérées par Elias Iagnemma et Alessandro Palma, qui ont fortement contribué au développement du site.
En complément, des falaises bien équipées permettent à la fois aux débutants de s’initier et aux grimpeurs confirmés de se challenger. L’ensemble rend la zone extrêmement polyvalente.
À quelques minutes, le village de Paesana offre une aire pour camping-cars et une zone pique-nique, idéale pour un séjour prolongé. La proximité du Mont Viso ajoute une touche spectaculaire à l’expérience, avec des paysages grandioses et une ambiance unique.
Grâce à son altitude et son orientation, Oncino est parfait au printemps et en automne, mais aussi grimpable en été.
Le stationnement doit se faire uniquement dans les deux zones prévues à cet effet, afin d’éviter des problèmes d’accès à l’avenir.
Un lieu en plein essor, au potentiel énorme, avec déjà des lignes de très grande qualité.

Today, climbers from all over Italy are coming to Oncino to challenge themselves with the recently cleaned and freed boulders. The area is experiencing a period of great development, with increasing recognition not only locally but also nationally, thanks to the beauty of the blocks and the quality of the lines. Oncino is now considered a must-visit destination for bouldering enthusiasts, who continue to flock here to discover and enjoy this extraordinary, ever-evolving area.

La zona di Oncino era già conosciuta come meta popolare per l'arrampicata su corda, con le falesie vicino alla strada chiodate all'inizio degli anni 2000. Tuttavia, è stato solo successivamente che l'area ha visto un vero e proprio rilancio grazie all'opera di giovani climber di grande talento come Alessandro Palma ed Elias Iagnemma. Entrambi hanno aperto e liberato linee incredibili, mettendo in luce il grande potenziale di Oncino. Con il passare del tempo, la zona è cresciuta notevolmente, sia in termini di numero di linee che di qualità. Oggi, climber provenienti da tutta Italia si stanno recando a Oncino per confrontarsi con i blocchi, molti dei quali recentemente puliti e liberati.
