🚗 Arrival
The destination is near Besenello, roughly halfway between Rovereto and Trento.
• From Rovereto: head towards Trento along the SS12 and continue to the far end of Besenello.
• From Trento: head towards Rovereto on the SS12 and reach the beginning of Besenello.

Look for the sign “centro raccolta materiali CRM,” which will be on your right coming from Rovereto and on your left coming from Trento. Turn here.
After 130 meters, keep left and then continue straight until you reach the CRM. Continue for another 450 meters until you reach the small wooden house of the “Comitato Monte Scanuppia,” where there is limited parking space.

The car park is small, so please make sure not to obstruct the passage in any way.

🚶‍♂️Sector
From the car park, take the uphill paved road, closed to traffic and also to bikes, that leads toward Monte Scanuppia.
Walk up the steep road for about 1.3 km and pass an alpine fountain (the drinkability of the water is no longer checked).
At the hairpin bend after the fountain (elevation 690 m), facing a stone wall with a gate, the road splits toward the two main sectors (see the reference photo).

• Bacco e Tabacco
Take the dirt road on the left. Pass a first house and continue along the forest road. At a junction, take the left branch, then immediately follow the uphill path on the right with a short cement ramp. After passing a nice wooden cabin, you reach a small meadow. Follow the stone wall on your left; at the end of the wall do not take the obvious trail going uphill. Instead, where the wall ends, take a faint downhill track and start contouring along the sector.

• Acqua in Bocca and New Sector
Continue on the paved road that bends to the right. After a few minutes you will reach a wayside shrine (photo reference). Take the dirt road on its left. Continue on flat terrain, passing two small clusters of houses, until you reach a shack with a chicken coop in the woods. Just behind the shack, enter the descending canyon; in some sections there are fixed ropes, metal steps, and small ladders, use caution if the terrain is wet. When the canyon ends, the small New Sector is on the left, and the Acqua in Bocca sector is on the right.

Practical notes
Avoid the approach during the hottest hours of summer, it can be scorching!
The road is considered one of the steepest paved climbs in Trentino; trekking poles are recommended for the ascent.
If you’re lucky, you may catch a ride from local landowners who are allowed to drive up.
