Climbing is completely prohibited
🦅 Seasonal Closure: Monte Arci Basalt Wall
Dates: March 1st – June 30th 2026
Please be advised that the basalt crags of Monte Arci are currently closed to all climbing activities to protect the nesting habitat of the Peregrine Falcon (Falco pellegrino).
Each year, these majestic raptors complete an incredible migration from Madagascar to the volcanic cliffs of Sardinia. They choose the quiet, sun-drenched basalt of Monte Arci to nest and raise their chicks (pulls). Because Peregrine Falcons are highly sensitive to human presence during the breeding cycle, even a single climber can cause the parents to abandon their nest.
The crag is located just below the road, walk west, to the bend, and find a narrow path that goes around and down to the base of the crag
