Description

📚 The area is also covered in the guidebook "Arctic Circle Bouldering" from Nov. 2019.

🌍 Mjelle is a recreational area that see alot of activity from the people of Bodø. Especially on clear sunny days. The area is west facing and on clear days you can see almost the full stretch of the Lofoten “wall” to the north-west. The sunsets here can be amazingly beautiful.

🧗‍♀️⛰ The bouldering here is mostly on free standing boulders with very rough texture. Many of the blocks lie on a sandy slope, and over the years some of this sand has been washed or blown away, making some problems higher and some landings a bit sketchier. A lot can be done with one pad. It is often quite windy so the boulders dry very fast. But the wind can also make it quite a cold experience in other seasons than summer.

👶 The area is mostly very child friendly but you'll have a hard time bringing a stroller.

🛏 It is not allowed to camp or otherwise stay over night at the parking area. But you are allowed to pitch a tent in the areas along the cost.

History

This northern part of the Mjelle area was the latest to be developed. The development has primarily been done by Sten Stenkjær sometime in the mid 2000's. A few routes have been added since .
