Description

🚶‍♂️ 1' - ⛰️ 240 MSL - 🧭 N-E - ☀️ East face in the morning, the other is shady

Mezzolombardo is a small topo collecting a single huge boulder called “Sas della Forca. This boulder is located in the middle of the vineyards of the municipality of Mezzocorona, on the slopes of Mezzocorona mount.
There are 20+ lines on the East and North face, with difficulties around the sixth grade.
The East face has slightly more compact rock and offers highballs with some spits and anchors in the last meters. Some holds here are chipped.
All the lines are quite overhanging and require a good amount of physical strength. The top is generally fixed at the upper edge.
Summer is not the best season to come here due to the high temperatures, while others are good.
The approach cannot be any shorter and the base is comfortable, so this boulder is a good after work destination.

Nice attractions in the area are the Burrone Giovanelli via ferrata, great hike trail inside a gorge that leads to the Mezzocorona mount, and the cableway that starts from Mezzocorona and heads to the summit of the same mount without any physical effort.

History

This huge boulder detached from the above mount hundreds of thousands of years ago, which offered shelter to the inhabitants of prehistory. The historical artifacts of this era are kept in the museum of Rovereto.
