Description

📚 Gullkysten is also covered in the guidebook "Arctic Circle Bouldering" from Nov. 2019.

🌍 The area got it's name from the golden sunsets you get here during summer months where the sun actually doesn't set but continues to light up the big mountain Skjeggen rising above the boulders. It is located along the fv17/Kystriksveien just next to the big parking/rest area Ureddplassen where there is a nice toilet availible.

🧗‍♀️⛰ The developed bouldering here is on free standing boulders with a very rough texture and good landings. 2 pads are recommended. Due to many small cracks in the main block it can seep for more than a day after rain and often seeps for several days. So if you want to go here, keep an eye on the weather and aim for going after 2-3 sunny and windy days.

👶 The area is child friendly as long as you keep them off the road. It's a good place to play around on the beach.

🛏 It is not allowed to camp or otherwise stay over night at the parking area.

History

The area was discovered by Rasmus Bølling in 2017 and in a joint effort the big lines were but up together with Steinar Kolskog that same year.
