Luohua

Oulun alueen kuuluisin ja laadukkain yksittäinen boulder.

Luohualta löytyy kaikentasoisia reittejä (joskin painottuen vaikeisiin reitteihin) aina vitosen greidistä pohjoisemman suomen vaikeimpiin reitteihin asti, kuten "Edge of Darkness" ja "King of Sting". Haasteita on tarjolla aloittelijasta ammattilaiselle.

Lähestyminen kivelle on helppo, noin 500 metrin matka hyvää metsätietä kävellen. Kivelle kannattaa kuitenkin ottaa useampi pädi matkaan, koska osassa reiteistä korkeutta voi olla jopa seitsemän metriä. Matalampiakin reittejä on kuitenkin tarjolla.

Luohuan kivi on tunnettu kiven hyvästä laadusta. Otteet ovat miellyttäviä ja reitit monipuolisia.

Parhaat kitkat kivelle on kevään ja loppusyksyn aikana, mutta reittejä voi kiivetä koko kesän ajan. Paikalliset käyvät Luohualla maaliskuusta joulukuuhun, jos vain kelit sen sallii.
Kivi kuivaa sateiden jälkeen suhteellisen nopeasti etenkin tuulisina päivinä.

Luohuan reitit pysyvät hyvin kiivettävinä ja puhtaina aktiivisen kiipeilyn ansiosta.

The most famous and best quality boulder in the area of Oulu.

In Luohua there are boulder problems for all grades (though leaning towards the harder grades) from grade five all the way to one of the hardest problems in the northern parts of finland, such as "Edge of Darkness" and "King of Sting". There are challenges for everyone from beginners to pros.

The approach to the block is easy, about 500 meters of walk by a forestroad. Taking more than a few pads to the block is recommended, for some of the routes can be even up to to seven meters high. Luckily there are also some not so high routes available also.

The block of Luohua is known for the quality of the stone. The holds are pleasant to hold and the routes very diverse.

The best frictions are in the Spring and in the end of Fall, but the routes are climbable during the whole summer. The locals go to Luohua from March to December if the weather just allows it. The block dries up quite quickly after rain especially on windy days.

The routes at Luohua stay well climbable and clean due to active climbing use.

Luohuan kivellä alettiin kiipeillä keväällä 2005.

Ensimmäisen kesän aikana suurin osa selkeistä erillisistä linjoista avattiin. Meni kuitenkin useampi vuosi, että ensimmäiset vaikeammat kasin reitit saivat ensinousun, sekä pari vuotta lisää että kaikkein vaikeimmat selkeät linjat avattiin.

Kiven kehitys on jatkunut tasaisesti siitä asti, ja vaikka kiveltä löytyy reittejä aina 8B+ greidiin asti, muutamia avoimia projekteja on vielä avaamatta.

Tämä yksittäinen kivi on käytännössä aloittanut ja kehittänyt boulderoinnin Oulussa.

Luohua block was discovered for climbing in the Spring of 2005.

During the first Summer most of the obvious individual boulder problems were established. Still, it took a couple of years until the first harder ones up to eight range saw their first ascents, and even a couple more until most obvious hard ones got climbed.

The development of the block has continued steadily ever since, and even tough there are climbed boulder problems up to 8B+, a couple of open projects have remained still unclimbed.

This single block has pretty much started and shaped the scene of bouldering in Oulu.
