Of the four sectors comprising the Bajo Vinalopó region, La Escola is the place where, without any doubt, you will find the greatest number of ´affordable´ routes. Over the years, its walls have witnessed the beginnings of many of the local climbers, and therefore, it will be the best option if you are looking for fifth- and sixth-grade climbs on vertical walls or slabs. Pockets and crimps are the main characters of its great gray limestone, which also offers a small overhang where you will find the most difficult itineraries of the crag.
Description
History
Some local climbers from Elche and Francisco Lledó and Francisco Candela “Cipol”, from Crevillente, opened the first artificial climbs there in the 60s and 70s. Later, between the late 80s and early 90s, Francisco Sánchez "More" carried out the bolting of the great majority of the routes up to date, and therefore, we will find in some of them some very old bolts and anchors, pointing out to re-bolting.
