Description

Kaynaklar is a quiet village in the outskirts of Izmir. Kaynaklar hosted 15 rock climbing festivals over the last decades. It is a favorite for many climbers, offering good connection to Izmir and a wide variety of climbing with grades vary from 5- to 8c and some open projects. Note that at Kaynaklar, routes are often harder than they are grated.

The 200+ routes are set on good quality limestone.

Most of the sectors are in the sun during the day. The Son sector, unlike the name suggests, always offers shade.

There is no phone connection for most of the sectors after Magara.

There is a campsite at the parking with daily local visitors and campfires going on.

History

Over 200 routes were set at Kaynaklar during the last three decades.

The earliest route dates back to 1994 and was set by Muammer Yalçin. A few years later, starting from 2002, the area boombed and dozens of routes followed, set by D. Palut, S. Demirtaş, E. Özbey, Zorbey A. and others.

The latest addition to Kaynaklar is the Son sector, which was set by Zorbey A. In 2016, which completes Kaynaklar.
