About the Area
Jurgovo is one of the earliest developed bouldering spots in Slovenia and is renowned for the exceptional quality of its rock. Nestled at the foot of the Rogla ski slopes, it lies about 10 km from the Oplotnica bouldering area. Thanks to its distinctive, wavy rock formations, Jurgovo stands out as one of the most intriguing climbing destinations on the Pohorje plateau.
Access and Land Ownership
Both the bouldering sectors and the parking area are situated on public land, making access straightforward and free for all visitors.
Rock Type and Climbing Style
The rock here is Pohorje granite / tonalite, known for its fine texture and finger-friendly properties. Climbers can expect a mix of rounded slopers, delicate crimps, and small edges, which makes for highly technical climbing.
Jurgovo features a variety of problems across the grades, including some modern classics such as "Čudoviti Um" (7b+) and "Explosion Time" (7b+), highlighting the area's diversity and challenge.
Best Season to Visit
While climbing is possible almost year-round, spring and autumn offer the best friction and most stable conditions. Winter is generally less suitable due to the potential for heavy snow coverage.
