Description

The unlikely agricultural setting, as well as a camouflaging screen of trees, probably goes a long way to explaining why this impressive cave escaped the scrutiny of local climbers until as recently as 2009. It is now ‘officially’ the city of Lleida’s closest sport-climbing destination! That said, the extreme difficulty of the majority of its routes rules this particular location out of bounds for all but the strongest of climbers. The rock is a rather curious mixture of sandstone and conglomerate, and optimum conditions can be elusive: dry when one would have expected wet (following prolonged mid-winter rains) and wet when one would have expected dry (summer condensation). Along with a small but formidable collection of roped routes the cave also boasts a 30m low-level traverse, ‘La Travesía de las Cuatro Estaciones’ (Font 8B+) destined to become a classic of the genre and worthy of a trip (or more likely several!) in its own right.
Orientation: Southwest.
