Description

Huweiling Bay is a quiet, undeveloped stretch of coastline on Hainan’s east side. The bay is made up of two small coves, with rocky shoreline and scattered boulders backed by forested slopes. It’s a peaceful spot with very little foot traffic, giving it a wild and natural feel. The shoreline is tidal, so access and conditions change with the water level.

History

Huweiling Bay is a small, quiet stretch of coastline near Mulan Bay in Wenchang, Hainan. The bay has two coves with rocky shoreline, scattered boulders, and forested slopes behind, giving it a wild and natural feel. It’s little visited compared to nearby Mulan Bay, but is well known locally as a fishing spot, with many people coming down to cast lines from the rocks and shoreline.

So far there doesn’t seem to have been much climbing activity here, but since 2025 local climbers from Haikou have been actively working to establish new lines on the boulders. At low tide it’s possible to walk across to Mulan Bay, linking the two areas.
