Description

Gjinkar is a crag close to the village of, you guessed it, Gjinkar.
The setting: a peaceful small village, a short approach through some meadows and climbing with a view of the village, surrounding mountains and the Vjosa river. The approach has a short section of steep gravel but is otherwise easy and the base of the wall is comfortable and relatively flat.

The climbing is defined by grippy, featured rock. Mostly face climbing on a vertical and lightly overhanging wall with a tufa thrown in here and there for good measure.

The wall faces south-west and has shade in the morning, until around 13:00, depending on the time of year.

History

The routes at this crag were bolted by a small group of Greek climbers as part of a cross border project between Greece and Albania aimed at developing 'extreme tourism' in the area. The names of the routes are names of villages in the region.
