Since long time ago, the main sectors of the north face of Foradá constitute one of the great summer classics of the entire Costa Blanca. Its comfortable footpath, altitude of its walls and the great variety of styles and grades in the crag, have given it a well-deserved reputation which, every summer, brings hundreds of climbers together, coming from every corner of the Spanish geography and from abroad. Its great attraction, in addition to the shade, is that among its great number of routes, there are routes of V grade a few meters away from other routes of 8th grade, making it an ideal place for groups of climbers with different climbing levels.
The final years of the 80s could be considered as the starting moment for sport climbing in this crag. During this first stage, Pedro "El Jefe", Paco "Volador", Antonio Ros "Chiri", Lina Montesinos, Manuel Amat, Pedro Lopez "El Moreno" and Isabel Pagán, among others, carried out the re-equipment of all the old artificial lines and began expanding the school with new routes throughout all its sectors. Here, we must highlight the particular case of the legendary John Bachar, who opened a route from below and with only three bolts, in 1990, with a level of exposure never seen before and that virtually nobody was willing to face. A year later, after seeing that two extra bolts had been added, he surprisingly decided to climb it solo, and named the route "The last Mohican" as a protest for the lack of respect for his way of understanding climbing. In the mid-90s, a new generation would come into the scene, led by Juan V. and Ricardo Martínez, José Hernández "Pelos", Lola Justamante and Juan A. Serrano, who significantly increased the average difficulty of the routes and establishing many of the great 8th-grade-classics in this crag. For the first years of the new millennium, the contribution of new routes would come mainly from the hand of the Martínez brothers and José M. Anaya, which would definitively consolidate the Superhéroes sector and mark the clear development of the Elecciones sector. In the last decade, all options for new routes have been exhausted, exploiting the Elecciones and Televisión sectors to the maximum and taking advantage of the few gaps remaining in the upper part of Superhéroes. The main characters of this last stage are Miguel Navarro "Doke", Santiago Payá, Fabián Gómiz, José M. Anaya and the Martínez brothers. Finally, the huge re-bolting job carried out by Fco. Rubio "Patxi" and Simón García must be highlighted, changing equipment in a large number of routes that, due to the longevity of their bolts, might be quite dangerous.
