Description

Finiki has the potential to become one of the largest climbing areas on the island in the future. Several fascinating rock formations are located above the village, including a large cave (Grotto de Finiki) with immense potential for beautiful and challenging routes. Despite the 10-minute approach, the Elephant and Icarus sectors are also well worth visiting. Unlike the nearby Arkasa, Finiki offers challenges for both intermediate and advanced climbers. The routes are diverse and engaging. As always, remember to wear a helmet and follow safe belaying practices.

In Finiki village, you’ll find a small beach, several restaurants, and accommodation options. You can also walk to Arkasa along a scenic promenade illuminated in the evenings.

History

The first routes in Finiki were established in 2019. As with other areas on Karpathos, they were developed by a team of Polish climbers. The first sector, Ghostface, was created due to its excellent rock exposure. New routes are still being bolted in Grotto de Finiki, which offers tremendous potential for difficult, high-quality climbing with stunning sunset views over the island of Kasos.
