Description

Evattu is a compact crag located just 20 minutes from Lahti, featuring 12 routes that span a wide range of grades and styles. The lower section offers excellent grey granite and steeper lines. On the right side, the wall is taller and more vertical, providing technical climbs on slightly sharper rock.

Although located in the southeast, Evattu’s main routes stay relatively dry and dry quickly after rain. It’s a great spot for summer evening sessions.

Please respect nature and the local neighbors while enjoying sport climbing in the Lahti area!

History

Evattu crag was proposed to Eetu by the son of a local farmer. The crag was not visible on maps, which is why it had not been discovered earlier. Permission to climb was quickly obtained from the landowner. Eetu found Tommi to be a reliable development partner, and the first routes were cleaned quickly. Developing the local crag during the bright summer nights was the best option for Eetu during the years he had young children. Evattu offered convenient nearby climbing opportunities in 2022 and 2023. Bolts and anchors were paid for by the developers.

The area is access sensitive!

Drive slowly on the sand roads — keep dust and noise to a minimum.

Do not trespass through the farmer’s yard if approaching from the north (Sankolantie).

Give a wave to others you meet — it’s local hillbilly etiquette!

Park on the right-hand side before the small ditch. A wide path on the opposite side of the ditch leads to the cliff.

Maximum 4 cars in the parking area. If it’s full, please go elsewhere. The Pyhäntaka roadside parking (road 140) is a good meeting or regrouping point.

If the landowner needs the space for forestry work, they will leave a sign — respect it.

Car traffic and parking issues are the biggest risk to long-term access — please help protect it.
