History

Bouldering in Val Ellero started during spring of 1981, when young climbers of G.A.M. (Marguareis Alpinistic Group) explored this virgin area. First boulders to be discovered were "Masso G.A.M" and "La Fontana", climbed without any pad or chalk and with grades that don't overcome 5b/5c. First chalk arrives during summer when the group of "Sassisti della Maudagna Valley" joined and from then begins a constant attendance of the sector, that lasted for all the '80s, giving birth to new boulders like "La Bestia", "La Casa" and "Il Sasso degli Schiaffi".
During '90s the spot is slightly abandoned except for few passioned boulderists that continued to come.
Year 2000: the new millennium is opened with a new birth of the sector, new boulders are cleaned and new lines are set. Most of the project are sent, also due to the presence of very strong climbers, that frequently came to the valley to join the movement. From then a lot of climbers, both beginners and more experienced, continued to meet in this beautiful valley that continued to expand until now. Many of the projects are now sent, but new boulders and new lines can still be found from climbers with a good eye.

This is only a short summary taken from the guidebook "Ellerock - bouldering e sport climbing in Val Ellero" written by Andrea Prette, Mattia Marenco and Giovanni Massari whose purchase is recommended.
