Description

Elbe river valley is the biggest sandstone canyon ( 15 km long ) in europe.

It is great free climbing area.

Climbing is regulated by official rules ( ČHS ).

Some sectors are temporarily closed due to bird nesting. These sectors are usually closed from January till and of June and are marked by sings. Please respect these sectors and do not trespass protection lines.

Traditional metal protection equipment like friends, cams etc. are not allowed in the area ( apply to all sandstone areas in The Czech Republic ).

IT IS VITAL TO KNOW HOW TO USE AND PLACE EXTRA PROTECTION GEAR - knots, Uforings.

Although many routs are considered to be sport routs and well protected, mental challenge is always present!!

It is highly recommended to get familiar with local climbing before challenging ones climbing skills and limits!!

Thorough observation before attempt is highly recommended.

Optimal rope length for safe climbing is 80 - 100 meters.

Climbing in bad weather condition like rain, snow or while still wet is prohibited. Time needed for complete dry vari widely and depends on many factors. Recommended time is at least 24 hours.

The area is access sensitive!

Best access is by train from Děčín to Dolní Žleb ( 15 minutes ride ) or from Germany, Bad Schandau , or by car but parking space is limited and car are not allowed to enter the village. All sectors are in short walking distance ( 10 - 30 minutes ) from train stop or station as well as from car parking.
