Description

A conglomerate crags located by the city of Považská Bystrica. It counts among some of the newest rock climbing sites and is formed by several smaller rocks. It is rarely visited. The well bolted routes are hidden in the woods, some 30-40min walking up above the village. Although the approach to the crags is longer and they can be harder to find during your first visit, they are definitely worth a visit if you are looking to climb on a good quality conglomerate and in complete peace and quiet.
Climbing is allowed in all sectors all year round.

History

Crags started to be explored by climbers in 90s mainly by F. Kopecký and J. Pažitný.

Climbing has been limited!

Due to bird nesting season, climbing is prohibited in the sectors Babylon, Mesačná krajina, and Tropický prales until June 30!!!
Other sectors – Veže, Smaragdová brána, Buldok, and Previsy – remain open all year round.

Approach: the village of Domaniža is approximately 12km passed Považská Bystrica, in the direction of Rajec. In the village, just before you reach the main square, turn right in the direction of the recreation area called Tri Studničky. Park your car behind the recreation zone and on the side of the dirt road.

Walk roughly 100m beyond the recreation zone, where on your right hand side you will notice a distinct dirt road leading up through a meadow. Continue up the meadow slightly to the left and along the agricultural field and meadow. Once in the forest, the dirt road splits twice, keep left both times. After the last turn, continue along a road through the forest.

For sector Previsy: If you are heading to the sector Previsy, after about 300m, turn sharply into the forest and look for rocks in the woods.

For sector Veže: Approximately 600-700m after the last turn, the forest road turns sharply to the right. Above it turn on the left. Look up to the left where you will see the sector Veže shine through the forest. This sector is possibly the easiest to find when visiting for the first time.

Other sectors can be reached from Veže, following an inconspicuous path through the forest (approximately at the height of Veže, neither lower nor higher).

TOTAL TIME of walk is approximately 30-40min.
