No special access issues
Although no serious access issues currently affect Curbar, it lies in the Peak District National Park and good standards of behaviour must be maintained at all times.
Approaches
Two options are available: 1) Park in the Curbar Gap pay and display, which is situated on Clodhall Lane approximately 1.7km from its junction with the A621 Sheffield-to-Baslow road. From here follow a wide path/track in a northwesterly direction, which runs along the top of the whole Curbar/Froggatt escarpment. The impressive Eliminates Wall is situated just below the path, some 500m from the carpark (8 minutes). A small path runs along the foot of the crag as far as Kayak Slab, but becomes rather vague and tortuous beyond that, meaning that the more distant buttresses are best approached by returning to the cliff top and following the upper path. The furthest area described — Beech Buttress — is situated approximately 1.8km (25 minutes) from the carpark and is actually slightly quicker to get to from either of the Froggatt parking areas.
2) About 400m metres downhill from Curbar Gap (heading towards Curbar Village) there are a series of lay-bys. From the left-hand side (looking in) of the lowest lay-by, a path leads steeply uphill. After about 150m the angle eases and a horizontal trail is reached. Follow this leftwards for some 200m to the base of the Eliminates Wall (8 minutes).
Note: the walking path/track along the top of the escarpment runs all the way from Froggatt Edge to Curbar Edge, meaning those wishing to climb on both crags during the same day can do so without the need to change parking locations providing they are not adverse to a little walking.
