Description

📚 Steigenkrysset is also covered in the guidebook "Arctic Circle Bouldering" from Nov. 2019.

🌍 This small boulder crag is situated in a riverbed where the road towards Steigen veers off from the E6. It is primarily known for the beautiful line Jan Steigen put up by Torstein Eide, the shape of which some people say remind them of a champagne bottle. But there is other good lines in different styles and grades. So a bit for everyone. It's an obvious and must do pitstop on your way to bigger crags

🧗‍♀️⛰ The rock quality here is mostly good. Due to the location of the boulders in the old river many of the rocks are polished but some aren't and still have some friction. There is little vegetation and the boulders dry fast.

👶 The area is child friendly but ti'll be troublesome to bring a stroller near the boulders.

History

The small crag saw some development in the golden days of bouldering in Nordland in the early-mid 2000s. Not much was recorded. A few new lines was added in 2018 during reconnaissance for the guidebook.
