Description

Cavo Grecko offers atmospheric climbing with stunning views of the sea. The Cavo Grecko area was extensively developed for trad climbing in the 80s and 90s. Several sport climbs have now been developed, making it a worthwhile day trip if you’re in the area. Visit the nearby sea caves for a swim to cool off or to continue the adventure with some cliff jumping.

Be aware that the limestone at Cavo Greko is highly weathered and often fragile. Take care when pulling on features like flakes as they may not be as solid as they seem.

Conditions

Cavo Grecko is best as a winter climbing destination as most cliffs are south-east facing. However, climbing is possible in the early mornings or late afternoons, especially if combined with other activities in the Cavo Grecko area.

History

Initially developed for trad climbing in the 80s and 90s by climbers stationed at the British bases, who established around 200 trad routes in the area. The upper cliffs have now been developed for sport climbing, while the lower cliffs remain predominantly trad climbs.
