Cavalese - Montebello is a small yet well-equipped climbing area, consisting of two sectors conveniently located near the city center of Cavalese. Nestled in the heart of Val di Fiemme, this is a great winter climbing destination, offering stunning views over the Lagorai mountains and the ski slopes of Alpe Cermis.
The climbing area is divided into two distinct sectors, both featuring high-friction reddish porphyry. • Montebello Alta offers 26 routes, ranging from grade 3/4 to 7b+, with a good number of options around 6a/6b. The climbing is varied, mainly on vertical faces and technical slabs.
• Montebello Bassa, on the other hand, presents a much greater challenge. Here, the smooth slab demands precise footwork and refined technique to reach the anchors, with routes spanning from 6a+ to 7c. The only downside of Montebello Bassa is its proximity to the road, which makes Montebello Alta the better choice for those seeking a quieter environment.
Best conditions for climbing are in winter and during the afternoons of the mid-seasons, while summer tends to be too hot. The crag is easily accessible with a short and simple approach from the city center. The base of both sectors is comfortable, featuring benches and being suitable for children.
The bolting, set up by the CAI of Cavalese, is excellent. The Alpine Guides of Val di Fiemme frequently organize rock climbing courses here.
Cavalese - Montebello is an excellent winter climbing destination and a great spot for those looking to combine climbing with other outdoor activities. Val di Fiemme offers a wealth of sports opportunities year-round. In winter, skiers can enjoy the slopes of Alpe Cermis, cross-country skiing at Lago di Tesero, or ski touring in the stunning Lagorai mountains. During the warmer months, the valley becomes a paradise for hikers, mountain bikers, and via ferrata enthusiasts.

Cavalese - Montebello è una piccola ma ben attrezzata area di arrampicata, composta da due settori comodamente situati vicino al centro di Cavalese. Immersa nel cuore della Val di Fiemme, è una meta ideale per l'arrampicata invernale, e offre splendide viste sulle montagne del Lagorai e sulle piste da sci dell'Alpe Cermis.
L'area è suddivisa in due settori distinti, entrambi caratterizzati da porfido rossastro con ottima aderenza.
• Montebello Alta offre 26 vie, con difficoltà che vanno dai gradi 3/4 fino al 7b+, con molte linee intorno al 6a/6b. L’arrampicata è varia, principalmente su pareti verticali e placche tecniche.
• Montebello Bassa, invece, propone sfide decisamente più impegnative. La sua parete liscia richiede un’ottima tecnica di piedi e grande precisione per raggiungere le soste, con difficoltà che spaziano dal 6a+ al 7c. L'unico punto debole di Montebello Bassa è la vicinanza alla strada, rendendo Montebello Alta una scelta migliore per chi cerca un ambiente più tranquillo.
Le condizioni migliori si trovano in inverno e nei pomeriggi delle mezze stagioni, mentre in estate le temperature sono generalmente troppo elevate. L’accesso alla falesia è facile e veloce dal centro di Cavalese, e la base di entrambi i settori è comoda con alcune panchine e adatta ai bambini.
L'attrezzatura è eccellente, grazie al lavoro del CAI di Cavalese. Le Guide Alpine della Val di Fiemme organizzano regolarmente corsi di arrampicata in questa area.
Cavalese - Montebello è una meta perfetta per l'arrampicata invernale e un’ottima opzione per chi desidera combinare l’arrampicata con altre attività all’aria aperta. La Val di Fiemme offre infinite opportunità sportive durante tutto l'anno. In inverno, gli sciatori possono godersi le piste dell’Alpe Cermis, lo sci di fondo al Lago di Tesero o lo sci alpinismo nel suggestivo scenario del Lagorai. Nei mesi più caldi, la valle diventa un paradiso per escursionisti, appassionati di mountain bike e amanti delle vie ferrate.
