Description

The canyon of Brar is located just 15 minutes outside the city of Tirana. The routes are steep and challenging. The most worthwhile climbing starts around 6b. The aproach is short but strenuous. Don’t let that discourage you, this is some of the best climbing that Albania has to offer. The beautiful striped limestone walls and long snaking tufas will keep you coming back for more.

History

The first routes on this wall were bolted way back in 2009 and 2010 by an Albanian climber living in Rome and a group of his Italian friends. These were likely the very first sport climbing routes in Albania! Many of the routes they bolted are already turning into classics. After this over the years visiting climbers gradually contributed their own lines to the wall.
This piece of rock was really cast in to the limelight when Adam Ondra in 2016 and later Seb Bouin visited and raved about the quality and difficulty of the climbing in Brar. This created a lot of international interest not only for the climbing in Brar, but helped start to put the whole of Albania on the map as a climbing destination.
In recent years also the locals have been able to add more routes to the wall with bolts supplied by GIZ.
