Description

Nice shady crag with routes in every style. Mostly slightly overhanging climbing on small crimps. Short and spicy, or long endurance routes. Astholz is one of the rare limestone climbing crags in Zillertal, the rock is really smooth and offers a lot of nice moves.

The crag is the whole day in the shadow, whats also perfect for warmer days. The wall is quite steep that climbing is also possible during rain. A lot of routes stay dry quite a while.

History

Henni Binder, a Zillertal Climbing Local started to bolt the routes in 1998. There was never a real boom at the crag and got discovered arround 2013 again. To that time Henni noticed that some of the already climbed routes were chipped by others. It's really a shame that something like this happens. His statement: If you are too weak, train more. Anyways since then some old projects were freed and also some new lines were opened.
Enjoy climbing.
