I must have tried Hingsten 8a+ for the first time a couple of days back in 2010. Back then I could do it with 2 hangs. The year after I struggled with a painful move in the first crux. It actually felt so bad that I lost interest for a couple of years and it wasn’t until 2016 that I was back on it again with some determination. That year I had 3-4 days on it that felt good enough to get me psyched again but I never surpassed my old highpoint from 2010. Last summer I finally had a small breakthrough. The first crux sequence felt better than ever and the second was starting to feel like ”I might not fall here”. At least two times I did it with one hang. This year I felt confident from the first day. On the second day I fell twice going to the jug that marks the end of the first half. Today on my first try I held it surprisingly easy. The second part became a bigger fight than I expected but I managed to clip the chains. So satisfied having done this old nemesis far from my style.
