Eiger West Flank, 3+
Route finding is the crux. We used some bright yellow cord that we during the ascent tied to rocks to more easily backtrack on the descent. Don't underestimate how much more difficult it is to routefind on the way down. Older guide texts speak of straying to the right after the Rotstock but before the bivvy site, up some snow and to fixed ropes. Either this is the preferred winter route or it is an older route no longer being used. Either way most the fixed ropes on the right were in 2024 worn to the point of the core being exposed. There is a newer route going more to the left.

Perfect day and a bivvy on Eiger Hilton. Don't underestimate the routefinding, and know that there is a new "via ferrata" to the left when coming from the telepherique
