Description

Engelswand is a beautiful and easily reachable granite crag in the Ötztal valley. This, combined with the amount of high quality routes, makes it one of the most popular crags in the area!

Engelswand provides more than 70 routes within the range 3-8a+ and most of the routes fall between the grades 6a-6c+. The climbing style is rather technical and there's a lot of cracks and ledges. In general the routes are well protected and most of them are vertical but there's also overhangs and slabs to be found.

As Engelswand is facing west it's best to climb there in the beginning of the day during warmer months, and aim for the afternoon during the colder months.

The routes start straight from a green grass meadow making Engelswand a perfect place also for climbers with kids!

Due to the popularity, Engelswand can sometimes get crowded during weekends. So if possible, it's a better option to aim for the weekdays.
